A system and a method for servicing advertisement are provided to supply advertisement data in association with process of VOD(Video On Demand) efficiently, when the VOD is supplied to a user through a set-top box. A system for servicing advertisement comprises a VOD server(100) for supplying VOD, an advertisement server for supplying advertisement data, and a set-top box(300) for processing the advertisement data to display advertisement through a user television. The set-top box includes an input-output unit(301), a VOD management application(302), a cache memory(303), a storage(304), a buffering monitoring scheduler(306), and an advertisement data management application(305). The VOD, which is supplied from the VOD server together with advertisement identification information, is transmitted to the set-top box. The buffering monitoring scheduler displays advertisement while buffering the advertisement data when advertisement data matched to the advertisement data identification information are stored in the storage.
