A steam generator is provided to sterilize fabrics and to iron fabrics without spraying additional water by providing some moisture to fabrics after completing a drying process. A steam generator used in a dryer includes a case(110) in the cabinet(50) of a dryer, a water feed line(112) extended from the case to outside of cabinet, a valve(116) installed to the water feed line, a supply pipe(114) extended from the case to an inner space of a drum, a heater(74) to apply heat to the water supplied through the supply pipe, a valve installed to the supply pipe to spray steam to inner space of the drum by opening the supply pipe when pressure in the case reaches a certain level, a humidity sensor installed to a tub allowing the drum to rotate, and a controller to operate the heater based on the humidity measured by the humidity sensor.
