<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a clear image from a document with depth using a scanner of simple and inexpensive configuration. <P>SOLUTION: The scanner 1 comprises a document table 2, a reciprocative image reading sensor 4, and a device 7 for altering the focal position of the image reading sensor 4. The image reading sensor 4 is lowered by the focal position alteration device 7 during movement on the outward path, and the focal position is located in the vicinity of the document mounting surface of the document table 2. The image reading sensor 4 is elevated by the focal position alteration device 7 during movement on the return path, and the focal position is located above the vicinity of the document mounting surface of the document table 2. The scanner 1 compares an image (outward path image) read when the image reading sensor 4 is moving on the outward path with an image (return path image) read when the image reading sensor 4 is moving on the return path, and forms the image of the entire document by synthesizing the outward path image having higher luminance than the return path image and the return path image having higher luminance than the outward path image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
