PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for rearing laboratory small animals, capable of detecting filter clogging with a simple device. SOLUTION: The apparatus for rearing small animals comprises an animal rearing cage 16, an air supply pipe 20 supplying air to the cage 16, an air exhaust pipe 18 exhausting air in the cage 16 and a filter 19 set on the exhaust pipe 18. A communication pipe 2 is set between the air supply pipe 20 and the air exhaust pipe 18, a container space 4 is set on the communication pipe 2, and a movable body 6 movable in the container space 4 by difference between the pressure in the air supply pipe 20 and the pressure in the exhaust pipe 18 is set in the container space 4.
