<p>Preparation of water-absorbent polymer structure comprises providing an untreated, water-absorbent polymer structure, and contacting it with a salt comprising a metal cation and at least an organic base as anion. Independent claims are included for: (1) water-absorbent polymer structure obtained by the above process, where the water-absorbent polymer structure comprises an inner region and an outer region comprising the salt; (2) a composite containing the water-absorbent polymer structure and a substrate; (3) a process for the preparation of the composite comprising contacting the water-absorbent polymer structure, the substrate and optionally an auxiliary agent; and (4) foams, molded bodies, fibers, sheet, films, cable, sealing materials, fluid-absorbent hygiene articles, carrier for plant- and fungus growth preventing agent, packaging means, soil additive and building material comprising the water-absorbent polymer structure or the composite.</p> |
