The rear guide plate (1) extends across the stern of the ship and is made from flexurally-rigid steel plate. The leading edge connection is hinged (2). The plate inclination is adjusted as required for stability, e.g. during voyages when empty. A system of pegs (4) runs in slots (3) providing horizontal guidance. This system is located at the rear, in the sternwheel frame. It is distributed over the width of the stern. Hydraulic cylinders (6) make the adjustment, which is carried out simultaneously with sternwheel height adjustment.
