Transmission of images from laser scanning microscope for storage, processing and display in real time, transmits two image data streams with intermediate storage and interleaving

In a first stream, image data is transmitted for intermediate storage. During transmission, processing data reproducing images, is transmitted in a partial succession. This is taken from the stream of images registered, and is transmitted at a rate exceeding a minimum value for this data. In a second image data stream, in which image data stored in the intermediate storage unit (18) is transmitted to the target storage unit (24), image data of the second image data stream is interleaved with data of the processing image data stream for transmission.
