A SYSTEM FOR LOADING AND RETAINING CHALK ON THE END OF A PROJECTILE

A marking projectile system is disclosed that comprises granulated marking chalk and at least one projectile, each projectile having an elongated body and a marking head that includes at least one depression for accepting the marking chalk therein. A chalk magazine may be further included that comprises a hollow housing having a projectile aperture opening into a chalk reservoir within the housing for holding the chalk. The chalk magazine may further include a closure attached to the housing for sealing and unsealing the aperture, a wiping pad, a housing cap for sealing the chalk reservoir, a plurality of wiper blades for wiping chalk off of the projectile body when th projectile is inserted into the aperture, and a reservoir neck for receiving therein the projectile and for scraping excess chalk off of the projectile body and marking head when the projectile is inserted into or removed from the chalk magazine.
