<p>A method and system of Ethernet supporting SSM forwarding are provided. The kernel of the method and system: By mapping the combination of multicast source SIP and multicast group IP address GIP, SS-DMAC is obtained. An Ethernet switch sets a forwarding port list based on the SS-DMAC. When a router makes Ethernet encapsulation on SSM forwarding IP report, it encapsulates the SS-DMAC as DMAC identifier into the report, so as to enable the DMAC of the Ethernet report to include the information of multicast source SIP. So that the Ethernet switch can support SSM when it performs multicast forwarding based on VLAN+DMAC. Relative to the prior arts, the provided method can reduce device and upgrading costs of the whole network and furthest be compatible with the existing devices and reduce investment cost of an operator.</p> |
