PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector which can suppress stray light and can project an image of super high contrast, and to provide a cover member loaded on the projector. SOLUTION: The projector is provided with a reflection element 52, having a reflecting part 520 which reflects light emitted from a light source and projects the light reflected by the reflecting element 52. The reflecting element 52 has a square plate shape and comprises a reflecting part 520 as a mirror which reflects incident light and a holding part 521 which holds the reflecting part 520, wherein the holding part 521 around the reflecting part 520 is formed of a black absorption material which will not reflect and absorbs light. The surface on the reflecting part 520 side of the reflecting element 52 is covered with the cover member 53 and the cover member 53 is formed of metal, having a black color glossy surface 530. Furthermore, on the cover member 53, an exposure hole 531 in which the reflecting part 520 is to be optically exposed is opened. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
