PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting pathogenic prion protein, which can quickly and easily detect pathogenic prion protein even at relatively low concentrations, from an animal-tissue-derived substance with high sensitivity. SOLUTION: A method for concentrating pathogenic prion protein-derived protein to be detected in performing a method for detecting pathogenic prion protein from the central nervous system tissue of an animal includes performing a process of homogenizing and decomposing the central nervous system tissue by using t-octylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol (Triton (R) X-100), Sarkosyl (R), and protease; and obtaining, from the homogenized substance thus decomposed, a concentrate containing pathogenic prion protein-derived protein.
