PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet irradiation device which can secure an alignment quality of discharged papers while preventing the occurrence of jamming of the sheets of discharged paper and can be connected to a plurality types of printers, and a printer to which the ultraviolet irradiation device can be connected. SOLUTION: The ultraviolet irradiation device 4 includes a paper carrying means 24 for carrying sheets of paper P and an ultraviolet irradiation means 23 which is provided on the downstream side in the paper carrying direction of the paper carrying means 24, and can be connected to a printer mainframe 8 having a discharged paper carrying means 44 and a discharge tray 68, wherein the paper carrying means 24 is connected to the printer mainframe 8 from which the discharged paper carrying means 44 and the discharge paper tray 68 are removed, and the discharged paper carrying means 44 is connected to the paper carrying direction downstream side of the ultraviolet irradiation device 23 while the discharge tray 68 is connected to the paper carrying direction side of the ultraviolet irradiation device respectively.
