PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel pump provided in an internal combustion engine having a unit for protecting the fuel pump from an action of force. SOLUTION: A unit 8 for protecting a fuel pump 5 has a stirrup-shaped member 9 attached to an internal combustion engine with connectors 12. The stirrup-shaped member 9 extends in an attached surface 10 of the fuel pump 5 and is at least flush with a housing 7 or protrudes from the housing 7. The stirrup-shaped member 9 is configured to be much stronger than the fuel pump 5 or the housing 7 of the fuel pump 5, which allows the fuel pump 5 to be protected from the influence of collision.
