PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side reinforcing type run flat tire 1 superior in various performance on running. SOLUTION: The run flat tire 2 is equipped with a support layer 16 positioning at the inner side in the axial direction of a side wall 8. The tire 2 is equipped with a band 20 between a belt 18 and a tread 4. The band 20 is composed of a main ply 42 and an edge ply 44. A part of the edge ply 44 is laminated on the outer surface of the main ply 42. The outer end 54 of the edge ply 44 is located at the outer side than the end 60 of the main ply 42. Cord having a small modulus Mm is used for the main ply 42. Cord having a large modulus Me is used for the edge ply 44. The ratio (Me/Mm) is 3.0 or more. The hardness of the tread is 65 or more.
