A connector has a housing and a plurality of terminals disposed in the housing. Each of the plurality of terminals has a pair of primary barbs and at least two pairs of secondary barbs for retaining the plurality of terminals in the housing. A pair of secondary barbs of each terminal is arranged in a staggered manner with respect to a pair of secondary barbs of an adjacent terminal. Each of the secondary barbs is smaller than the primary barb. Increased retaining force can be provided between the terminals and housing without increasing the total area or size of the barbs. Impedance characteristics of a connector with terminals so configured are not adversely affected.
