PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic display device such that an optical pattern improving improved frontal reflectance is formed on an electrode, and fabrication thereof. SOLUTION: The electrophoretic display device according to the present invention includes a first substrate including a first electrode of a transparent material having a first optical pattern, a second substrate opposed to the first substrate and including second electrodes disposed opposite the first substrate, partitions interposed between the first and second substrates to define a space between the first and second substrates, and an image display layer filling the space formed by the first and second substrates and the partitions to display an image by an electric field generated between the first and second electrodes.
