<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To mechanically protect a heat dissipation member while suppressing the degradation in heat dissipation performance in a lighting device for a display device. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting device for the display device includes a light source 43, the heat dissipation member 5 which emits the heat of the light source 43 into the air, and a protection case 6 which mechanically protects the heat dissipation member 5 by covering the surrounding of the heat dissipation member 5. The heat dissipation member 5 includes a passage 52 through which the air flows, and the member is constituted so that air receives the heat from the heat dissipation member 5 while the air passes through the passage 52 from a passage inlet 52a up to a passage outlet 52b. The protection case 6 includes a case inlet 61 for making the air flow into a passage inlet 52a, and a case outlet 62 making the air flowing out of the passage outlet 52b flow out, and the case inlet 61 is so formed as to include the passage inlet 52a in the direction where the air flows into the passage inlet 52a, and the case outlet 62 is so formed as to include the passage outlet 52b in the direction where the air flows out of the passage outlet 52b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
