<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cartridge discriminating device capable of more accurately deciding the attribute of a cartridge even when operation is interrupted in the midst of detecting data corresponding to the attribute from the cartridge, and an image forming apparatus equipped therewith. <P>SOLUTION: An NVRAM 98 is provided as a nonvolatile storage means and the values of respective counters C1 to C3 are stored in the NVRAM 98. By such constitution, when restarting detection after the interruption, the counted value before the interruption is read out from the area B3 of the NVRAM 98 to the counter C3, whereby the on-time of a photosensor is counted to be added to the counted value before the interruption after the interruption. The result of detection before the interruption can be reflected in the result of detection after the interruption, so that an error in deciding the attribute of the developing cartridge 26 caused by the interruption can be avoided in advance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
