PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellently productive method for manufacturing a filter for a display panel, capable of easily and excellently securing an electrode in one-piece filter, and continuously performing manufacturing; and to provide the filter for the display panel. SOLUTION: The method is the one for manufacturing the filter for the display panel, where an electromaghetic wave shield material 2 and at least single layer of functional coating layers 3, 4 are arranged on a base material film 1, and the electromagnetic shield layer 2 is exposed to the surface in the whole circumference of the filter. The method includes: a process (A) for forming the electromagnetic wave shield material 2 on the base material film 1; a process (B) for sticking masking tapes 5 to positions 11 corresponding to the paired opposing side edges of the filter on the surface of the electromagnetic wave shield material 2; a process (C) for forming the functional coating layers 3, 4 on the electromagnetic wave shield material 2 and the masking tapes 5; and a process (D) for peeling the masking tapes 5 together with the functional coating layers 3, 4 of the upper layer.
