PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file processor, a method and a program, and a backup device for generating a file information list of an optical disk in a short time. SOLUTION: The file processor processes files backed up in a detachable optical disk and has a determination means for determining whether or not the file information list including identifiers for uniquely identifying the files stored in a storage means to be backed up and attribute information of the files is stored in the optical disk when the optical disk is attached to a first storage means using the optical disk as a storage medium and a list generation means for generating the file information list of the optical disk by using the file information list when it is determined that the file information list of the storage means to be backed up is stored and generating the file information list of the optical disk by retrieving the optical disk when it is determined that the file information list of the storage means to be backed up is not stored.
