PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for breaking a bag which can eliminate labor and time for sorting and collecting bags from stored articles after a bag-breaking work, does not break the most of the stored articles, and can reduce the working load and shorten the working time. SOLUTION: In the apparatus for breaking a bag 2, taking a food tray 1 (a stored article) therefrom, sorting the food tray 1 from the bag 2 and collecting the tray, a pair of endless chains 7 (or endless belts) having a vacuum conveyor 5 which sucks the bag 2 from an upper side and hangs and conveys the bag and drives in a circulating manner a plurality of bag-breaking blades 6 equipped immediately below the vacuum conveyor 5 at a predetermined spacing are arranged in a V-shape opening in the conveying direction of the bag 2 in plan view.
