PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To present peripheral information of a shop and the like that a user can visit ahead of the traveling direction without greatly changing the present traveling direction. SOLUTION: The peripheral information display device to be mounted on a motor vehicle comprises: a present position acquisition section acquiring the present position of a motor vehicle; a traveling direction acquisition section acquiring the traveling direction of the motor vehicle; a map storage section storing a map in advance; a map display section which reads, out of the map storage section, a map ahead of the present position calculated on the basis of the present position acquired by the present position acquisition section and the traveling direction acquired by the traveling direction acquisition section, and displays the map; a transceiving section which receives, from an external device provided outside the motor vehicle, the peripheral information of the area ahead of the traveling direction calculated on the basis of present position and the traveling direction and smaller than the map stored in the map storage section; a peripheral information temporary storage section storing the peripheral information received by the transceiving section; and a peripheral information display section which superposes the peripheral information stored in the peripheral information temporary storage section on the map and displays it.
