PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink absorbing material which hardly causes discharging of ink mist or scarcely causes discharging of the ink mist even when the origin of movement of a carriage temporarily turns depressurized by moving the carriage. SOLUTION: The ink absorbing material which is provided by opposing a recording head for delivering ink toward a sheet of recording paper, is arranged in a recessed part 54 formed before guiding a paper 56 and absorbs the ink delivered from the recording head, is formed of a composite body consisting of a surface layer 61 and a back surface layer 62. The surface layer 61 is formed of a nonwoven fabric with a fiber thickness of equal to or less than 30 dtex, and the back surface layer 62 is formed of a nonwoven fabric with a fiber thickness of 30-50 dtex.
