PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic data storing method and an apparatus which can provide appropriate thermal stability and an appropriate signal to noise ratio. SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises a data storage medium including a piezoelectric material and a ferromagnetic material, an electric field source for applying an electric field to a portion of the data storage medium, and a write pole for applying magnetic field to the portion of the data storage medium.
