PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abrasive article containing communicative pores of about 40-80% by volume that is useful as a segment for a segment-type grinding wheel and a manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: The method includes a step of mixing a mixture of abrasive grains, a bonding material, and dispersoid particles of about 50-80% by volume. The mixture includes the dispersoid particles of about 50-80% by volume. In another embodiment, the mixture includes an organic bonding material and the dispersoid particles of about 40-80% by volume. After that, the powdered mixture is pressed into a composite material filled with the abrasive materials, and heat-treated. After cooling, the composite material is immersed in a solvent, all the dispersoid particles are substantially dissolved, and as a result, a bonded abrasive article with a high grade porosity remains.
