PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for forming and cleaning a sprue by which the sprue is formed at an optional position in a mold on green sand in a horizontal state with a parting surface as an upper direction and the formed sprue can be air-blown. SOLUTION: This apparatus is characteristically provided with: a sprue forming drill 2 disposed so as to be suitable in the horizontal and vertical directions at the lower part of a green sand upper mold 1 in the horizontal-state forming the parting surface at the upper direction and for cut-forming the sprue at the green sand upper mold 1; an elevating/loweringg mechanism 3 for moving the sprue forming drill 2 in the vertical direction; a moving mechanism 4 for moving the elevating/lowering mechanism 3 and the sprue forming-drill 2 to the horizontal direction ; and an air-blowing unit 6 fitted to the shifting mechanism 4 and shifting while following to the sprue forming drill 2 and also, provided with an air-blowing nozzle 5 for air-blowing from almost just upper part of the sprue forming drill 2 to the sprue formed by the sprue forming drill 2.
