This invention provides a process for producing a color filter comprising two or more groups of pixels, which exhibit respective different colors, provided on a substrate, the pixels being separated from each other by deep-color partition walls. The production process comprises a photosensitive layer formation step of forming, on a substrate, a photosensitive layer containing a deep-color photosensitive composition comprising a photoacid generator, a crosslinking agent, which acquires a crosslinking function upon action of the photoacid generator, and a colorant, an exposure step of exposing the photosensitive layer to cure the exposed area, a development step of removing the unexposed part in its photosensitive layer to form the partition walls, and a step of applying droplets of a color liquid composition to between the partition walls to form pixels between the partition walls.
