A backlight assembly and an LCD comprising the same are provided to form a light absorption part at a lamp holder, which is joined to a joining hole of a bottom chassis, to prevent the light leakage, and improve the brightness. A plurality of lamps are inserted through a reflection part, wherein the reflection part reflects light emitted from the lamps. At least one lamp holder(500) holds the lamps inserted through the reflection part, wherein the lamp holder has an absorption part for absorbing the light. A side member(480) includes an insertion surface(484) having penetration holes(482) into which the lamps are inserted. A bottom chassis(400) includes a bottom surface(410) and a lateral surface(420) extended from the bottom surface. The bottom chassis has a joining hole(430) to which the absorption part of the lamp holder is joined.
