PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device which warns of the occurrence of flare without providing a new sensor. SOLUTION: A subject image imaged through an optical member by a digital image data generation means is picked up by an imaging device, and an analog image signal obtained by photoelectric conversion is subjected to AD conversion to generate digital image data, and luminance is measured by a luminance measurement means on the basis of a rectangular subject image represented by the digital image data, and it is determined whether flare occurs or not on the basis of the measured luminance by a flare determination means (steps 101 to 106), and a warning informing of the occurrence of flare is displayed by a warning display means (step 107) in the case that the occurrence of flare is determined.
