PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tension member used for fiber-optic cable where bucklings and breakings are less likely to occur, even if it is bent into a small diameter. SOLUTION: The tension member used for fiber-optic cable comprises an organic fiber-reinforced plastic, and the tension member satisfies the relations: 54,700≤E≤96,600 and 3.3≤L, if E(MPa) is the value of Young's modulus in the fiber and L(%) is the value of elongation at breakage of the fiber.
