PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tunnel connection method by a shield machine which facilitates the uniform injection of a filler into a space formed in a shield frame by retreating a cutter drive section, and to provide a shield machine for underground connection and a method of using the same. SOLUTION: By rotating a cutter 5 while a cutter drive section 4 is retreated from the shield frame 2, and injecting a filler from a nozzle 34 formed at the cutter 5, the filler is almost uniformly injected in the space 33 formed in front of a partition wall 3 in the shield frame 2, and thus a hardened wall 43 is formed. The rolling of the cutter drive section 4 caused by the rotation of the cutter 5 is prevented by a rolling preventing mechanism 35. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
