PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for inspecting rolling device components, capable of accurately inspecting the parts of rolling devices, without causing rise in the inspection cost. SOLUTION: Defects are determined as to the existence through the use of an inspection apparatus, provided with an exciting coil 2a for imparting bar steel with an AC magnetic field, when the bar steel to be used as the material of bearing rings is determined as to the existence of defects; an induction coil 2b for detecting the changes in the flux intensity of the AC magnetic field provided for the bar steel from the exciting coil 2a; an inductance change detecting circuit 3 for detecting the magnitude of induced electromotive force generated in the exciting coil 2b; and a comparison determining circuit 4 for determining as to the existence of defects, by comparing the magnitude of induced electromotive force detected at the inductance change detecting circuit 3 with the threshold.
