PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an angular ball bearing in which, with retainer strength kept at a given level, more rolling bodies are built in and a high load carrying capacity is improved by reducing friction resistance between the rolling bodies and a retainer, and thereby high precise rotation becomes possible over a long period of time. SOLUTION: There is provided the angular ball bearing including a pair of race rings 2, 4, a plurality of the rolling bodies 6, at least a main body 8m formed into a tapered cylindrical shape, and the retainer 8 for holding the rolling bodies within a plurality of pockets 8p. In the angular ball bearing, the retainer comprises a cylindrical hole p1 where the pockets are formed in a direction from the outer circumferential surface 8b of the main body to the inner circumferential surface 8a thereof and a conical hole p2 formed from the cylindrical hole fully to the inner circumferential surface. When a contact angle between the race ring and the rolling bodies, and an intersecting point of a diameter of a pitch circle of the rolling body with an intermediate line L of an axial width B of the retainer are defined asαand o, respectively, and then when an angle formed of a central line L1 connecting the intersecting point o and a central point of the cylindrical hole and an intermediate line connecting the intersecting point o and an intermediate point of the axial width of the retainer is defined asβ, a relationship of 0°<β≤0.65αis established.
