<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a vehicle applicable to search conditions and an improper vehicle from among recognition results of a license number and feature quantity. <P>SOLUTION: A vehicle retrieval system is equipped with: an image processing part which extracts the license number and the feature quantity from a vehicle image of a camera installed on the road; a recognition vehicle database which records the extracted license number and feature quantity and photographing time and spot by making them into a group; a registration vehicle database which records by making the license number and vehicle specifications prepared beforehand into a group; and a vehicle specification/feature quantity mapping database which records vehicle specification and the corresponding feature quantity by making them into a group, and narrows down the search result by eliminating an inaccurate recognition results by eliminating combinations of license numbers and the feature quantity among the recognition vehicle applicable to the specified search conditions, conflicting to the license number and the vehicle specifications of a registration vehicle. On the contrary, the improper vehicle is detected by disagreement of the group of the license number and of the feature quantity of the recognition vehicle, and the group of the license number and the vehicle specifications of the registration vehicle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
