PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scroll type fluid machine which eliminates a gap between a seal member and a seal groove. SOLUTION: Wax 23 is applied on an outer circumference surface 20D of a chip seal 20. The chip seal 20 is inserted in seal grooves 7, 12 of lap parts 5, 10 under this condition. The wax 23 is thereby arranged in a gap between the outer circumference surface 20D of the chip seal 20 and outside wall surfaces 7C, 12C of the seal grooves 7, 12. As a result, compressed air flowing into a gap between a bottom surface 20A of the chip seal 20 and bottom surfaces 7A, 12A of the seal grooves 7, 12 does not leak, and sealing performance of the chip seal 20 is increased by pressing force A of compressed air.
