A broadcasting receiver having a CI module and a signal amplifying method thereof are provided to output a signal amplified at a predetermined level through an amplifier to a tuner when a PCMCIA(Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) card is inserted into the CI module, thereby preventing the receive sensitivity of the tuner from being deteriorated. A broadcasting receiver having a CI(Common Interface Module) module(130) comprises a tuner unit(120), the CI module, a detection unit(210), an amplification unit(200), and a CPU(Central Processing Unit)(190). The tuner unit receives a broadcasting signal. The CI module descrambles the output signal of the tuner unit. The detecting unit detects the card insertion state of the CI module. The amplification unit amplifies the output signal of the tuner unit. The CPU controls the output signal of the amplification unit according to the card insertion state of the CI module detected by the detection unit.
