PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PDP apparatus equipped with a temperature detection circuit capable of detecting the temperatures of a large number of ICs, with a simple structure inexpensively. SOLUTION: This apparatus is equipped with a panel 100, N (natural number) driver ICs 201, 201-1, 201-16 for driving display electrodes, N diode circuits D, D1, D16 which the driver ICs have built-in individually, a current supply circuit 202 for supplying forward currents to the diode circuits, N switching devices SW1, SW2 for allowing the forward currents to flow into each of the diode circuits or interrupting them, a selective control circuit 205 for selecting and turning on one switching device out of the N devices according to a digital signal of a bit number smaller than N, and a voltage detection circuit 203. The apparatus successively performs control to selectively allow forward currents to flow by time sharing by selection of the control circuit 205, and detects the temperatures of the driver ICs by successively detecting the forward voltage drops of the diode circuits by the voltage detection circuit.
