Disclosed is a fuel cell wherein the moisture distribution in the in-plane direction of a polymer electrolyte is uniform and a reaction gas is efficiently supplied to an air electrode catalyst layer. Specifically disclosed is a fuel cell comprising a polymer electrolyte membrane, a pair of catalyst electrodes, and a pair of metal separators. An air electrode separator (700) has an oxidizing gas channel (714) for supplying an oxidizing gas to a catalyst electrode. The oxidizing gas channel (714) is formed so that a channel portion near an oxidizing gas supply manifold (710) and another channel portion near an oxidizing gas discharge manifold (712) sit next to each other in the same plane, while having a meandering or spiral shape.
