The method involves limiting the torque output by the internal combustion engine depending on the revolution rate of the engine and the gear ratio of a gearbox connected to the engine. The revolution rate is derived from operating parameters of the drive train, of which at least one is different from the instantaneous measured revolution rate of the internal combustion engine : An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for restricting the torque output from an internal combustion engine of a drive train.
