The single current path (15) is connected in series with the electrical line (1) which is to be selectively switched off. The electrical series circuit (16) includes a switch (17) and an inductive release unit (18) with first and second coil armatures (22, 23). These have latch connections (24, 25) connected through a release section (30) to a moving contact (29) of the switch (17). The first (24) of these mechanical connections includes a delay section (28). The first coil armature (22) has a first current response threshold (I1) which is lower than that (I2) of the second coil armature.
