An apparatus and a method for displaying information on a missing person are provided to display information on a missing person as an image on a display device located in a public place to obtain information on the missing person from many people who recognize the displayed information. An apparatus for displaying information on a missing person includes a set top box(200) for outputting a missing person image including at least one of text information, an image and a picture related to a missing person and an image display device(300) which is located in a public place and displays the missing person image output from the set top box. The set top box includes a local hard disk(270) and an image transmitter(250). The local hard disk stores at least one missing person image received from an external apparatus and broadcasting schedule information which determines a time of broadcasting the missing person image. The image transmitter transmits the missing person image extracted from the local hard disk to the image display device to display the missing person image. |
