The innovative object described in the proposed invention consists in a highly versatile system designed to be used to determine distance, velocity and acceleration of moving objects. More precisely, the system can simultaneously determine the position or distance, the instantaneous speed and acceleration of a body in motion with respect to another reference body. The system is mainly composed of two transmitting units, located respectively on the moving body and on the reference body, between which signal pulses are propagated so as to realize a ring oscillator. Depending on the wanted accuracy, a further motion sensitive device is placed on the moving body. The measurement system includes also a processing device, for instance a digital microprocessor, which is used to elaborate the information picked up by the sensors by means of a suitable mathematical model, thus providing measures with a very high degree of precision.
