<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive wave generation circuit for generating the drive wave of a piezoelectric element effectively. <P>SOLUTION: An initial counter 18 supplies an L level to an EX OR gate 62 until the count reaches a first predetermined value, and then supplies an H level to the EX OR gate 62 until the count reaches a second predetermined value. Since a direction control signal M/I is supplied externally to the EX OR gate, output of the EX OR gate 62 is reversed by the H or L level of the direction control signal M/I.
