PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide recording paper increased in strength without deteriorating texture, and to provide a method for producing the paper. SOLUTION: The recording paper is provided by compounded in the stock pulp,≥10 mass% but≤70 mass% chemical pulp made from conifer, wherein the stock pulp has 1.05-1.55 mm average fiber length,≥60 mass% but≤100 mass% cryptomeria wood is contained in the conifer stock and the cryptomeria wood contains≥20 but≤100% wood of≥15 year but≤50 year tree age, and the method for producing recording paper comprises unperforming beating treatment of the conifer chemical pulp of the amount corresponding to≤30 mass% of conifer chemical pulp stock and to≤50 mass% of whole chemical pulp.
