PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a glass roving which can be used even as a reinforcement for an FRP molding without causing the molding to disperse in strength from one area to another area and impairing appearance and to provide a glass roving produced thereby. SOLUTION: The present invention provides a method for producing a glass roving comprising applying a binder to glass filaments and aligning a plurality of strands by means of a gathering shoe 14, wherein the glass filaments with the applied binder are parted into strands with random thicknesses by means of the gathering shoe 14 so that the number of strands having thicknesses which are equal to integral multiples (including one time) of 90-110% of the thickness of strands obtained when they are parallelized into a plurality of strands with equal thickness is not larger than 50% of the total number of strands, and a glass roving prepared by the method.
