PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable lead-free glass composition with a low melting point and a magnetic head using the lead-free glass composition. SOLUTION: The lead-free glass composition in one embodiment comprises, by mass, 60-69% Bi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 10-20% B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 5-7% ZnO, 2-8% SiO<SB>2</SB>, 1-5% Na<SB>2</SB>O, >1 and≤3% Sb<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0.5-8% Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0-5% Fe<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0-1% Li<SB>2</SB>O and 0-4% ZrO<SB>2</SB>expressed in terms of oxide and does not contain a lead-based compound such as PbO. The lead-free glass composition in another embodiment comprises, by mass, 60-69% Bi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 10-20% B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 5-7% ZnO, 2-8% SiO<SB>2</SB>, 1-5% Na<SB>2</SB>O, >1 and≤3% Sb<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>and 0.5-2% AlF<SB>3</SB>expressed in terms of oxide and does not contain a lead-based compound such as PbO.
