An intake manifold leakage monitoring system for a diesel engine and a method thereof are provided to achieve improved performance of the diesel engine by detecting a leakage of an intake line in a stable manner. A diesel engine includes a controller(10) for controlling operation of the engine, and an electronic throttle control unit(20) for controlling the quantity of air under the control of the controller. The controller detects the present engine RPM and extracts torques of the minimum and maximum values by applying the detected engine RPM to a torque map, calculates the torque received at the flap of the electronic throttle control unit in accordance with the flux of intake air, and judges a leakage of an intake manifold by comparing the calculated flap torque and the extracted minimum and maximum torques. |
