Disclosed is an electrode for fuel cells which is obtained by impregnating a supporting base with a fuel cell catalyst and a vinyl polymer composition, wherein a vinyl polymer A having at least one crosslinkable group selected from the group consisting of an epoxy group and a protected isocyanate group and a vinyl polymer B having at least one crosslinkable group selected from the group consisting of a hydroxyl group, a carboxyl group and an amino group are contained and at least one of the vinyl polymer A and the vinyl polymer B has an acidic group forming a salt, and subjecting the salt to proton exchange after reacting the crosslinkable groups of the vinyl polymer A and the vinyl polymer B. Also disclosed is a method for producing such an electrode for fuel cells.Further disclosed is a fuel cell comprising an electrolyte membrane and the electrode for fuel cells.
