PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of adequately selecting one paper feed cassette from a plurality of paper feed cassettes. SOLUTION: A CPU 91 functionally comprises an opening/closing detection unit 911 for detecting the opening/closing of paper feed cassettes 31-34, respectively, based on opening/closing information from opening/closing detection sensors 31V-34V, a supply determination unit 913 for determining whether or not recording paper is supplied to the paper feed cassettes 31-34 based on the result of detection of the opening/closing detection unit 911, an old and new information generation unit 915 for generating old and new information to indicate old and new of the date of the supply of the recording paper to the paper feed cassettes 31-34 based on the result of determination of the supply determination unit 913, and a cassette selection unit 917 for selecting any one paper feed cassette out of the paper feed cassettes 31-34 based on old and new information generated by the old and new information generation unit 915.
