Optical device comprising: (a) a substrate; (b) at least one core layer including a polymer material with nonlinear optical properties comprising at least one copolymer obtained by copolymerizing at least one monomer or oligomer having at least two polymerizable groups, said at least one monomer or oligomer being at least partially fluorinated, with at least one optically active cromophore having at least two polymerizable groups able to react with the polymerizable groups of said at least one monomer or oligomer. Said optical device may be an optical waveguide, an optical modulator, an electrooptical modulator, an optical switch, a frequency converter, an optical parametric oscillator, an optical parametric amplifier, or a data processor. Preferably, said optical device is an electrooptical modulator.
